I meant to sit down and write about Chapter 2 in Power Up, but I just don’t have the words. I’ve been thinking a lot about Philando Castile and the video that we have all seen.

And I keep thinking about the four year old girl in the back seat when Philando Castile was shot. In a police cruiser where Diamond Reynolds and her daughter were taken and put into police custody. While continuing to talk to the Facebook livestream, for a moment Diamond loses her calm and the anger and grief pour out. In that moment her daughter shouts out “Its ok, I’m here with you.”

I am in awe of Diamond Reynolds and what she had to go through. I can’t even imagine the courage of those moments. I am in awe of her daughter. And I am so sad for her daughter. All I want to do is go pick up my son and hold him and never let go.

So, today I don’t have any words for 1:1 classrooms and social media.
